About Organic Eri Silk
This organic silk has been handspun by women in rural India, whom I work with directly. This process serves as their only source of income, and their mastery in spinning this incredible silk sustains their livelihoods. Every purchase contributes to the survival of these artisans and their families, as I have personally supported their work in this craft.
Organic Eri silk is distinguished not just by its quality, but also by its method of production. The process allows the silkworm to metamorphose into a butterfly. Additionally, the trees supporting the silk production are cultivated without the use of harmful insecticides or generic sprays. In contrast to cultivated silk, such as mulberry silk, where the worm dies for extraction, Eri silk embodies a more sustainable approach to silk farming.
